The Law Offices of Robert A. Melillo established in 1986 is a boutique law firm offering personal service and individual attention to its clients. The firm is located in the Village of Locust Valley on the North Shore of Long Island. The firm represents clients primarily in the areas of trusts and estates, estate planning, commercial and residential real estate, all business matters, elder planning, and probate and estate administration.
The firm utilizes the most up-to-date drafting libraries and on-line research facilities. Our focus is to offer our clients a high degree of experience, expertise, and, most of all one-on-one personal attention. We maintain relationships with leading estate planning, trust management, and insurance professionals across the nation in order to provide our clients with a broad range of sophisticated estate planning options.
Robert A. Melillo is an experienced attorney admitted to practice law before the Courts of the State of New York (1969), Florida (1980), the Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Melillo is a graduate of Boston University (B.S. Finance 1966) and St. John’s University School of Law (J.D. 1969). He began his career in 1969 as Assistant Counsel to the Committee on Towns and Villages of the New York State Assembly. In 1970 Mr. Melillo was appointed a Nassau County Assistant District Attorney. Mr. Melillo rose through the various trial bureaus of the District Attorney’s Office and in 1973 became a member of the District Attorney’s Major Offense Bureau litigating the most serious cases arising in Nassau County, NY. In 1976 Mr. Melillo entered the private practice of law as a litigation partner in a small prestigious Long Island law firm handling a broad array of litigation and transactional legal matters. Today Mr. Melillo focuses his practice primarily on estate planning, business law and litigation, arbitration, real estate law, elder law and probate and estate administration.
Mr. Melillo is a member of the New York State Bar Association Trusts and Estates Law Section, the Business Law Section, the General Practice Section, and the Elder Law Section.
